BACKGROUND
Eric Gauthier, artistic director of the Gauthier Dance Company in Stuttgart, invited eight leading international choreographers to create eight pas de deux for his company: eight duets, eight world premieres. The title of the show is Deuces, an English term for cards or dice with a value of two.
MUSIC
A poem by Sara Kellie, entitled “We’re on Fire”, has been set to music using the voices, breaths and sounds of the dancers’ mouths. Moving slowly from low to high frequencies, the music runs parallel to the physical and spiritual enlightenment of the characters in the pas de deux.
